A chain link mesh roll is not an installable fence. A complete system needs line, terminal, corner and gate posts; rails or tension wire; tension bars and bands; braces; ties; caps; gates; fasteners; foundations and spare parts. A roll-only price hides the components that determine installation readiness.

Build the bill of materials from an annotated fence layout rather than a price list. Mark straight runs, ends, corners, changes in direction, changes in level and every gate. Assign post types to those locations, then calculate rails or tension wire, terminal fittings, ties, caps and brace components. Gate posts and hardware should remain separate because their duties and foundations can differ from line posts. Add buyer-approved spares only after installed quantities are established. The supplier's quotation can then reference the same item numbers used on the drawing, packing list and package labels. 1. Divide the system into six packages

2. Calculate quantities from a fence-line drawing

Provide total length plus individual runs, corners, ends, slopes, returns and gate openings. The supplier can then count mesh rolls and fittings against the drawing. The post spacing and foundation remain project design items; do not infer them solely from a product-page range.

Separate line posts from heavier terminal, corner and gate posts. Each type should show OD or section, wall, total length, embedded or base-plated detail, cap and finish. List top rail, tension wire and brace rails with their couplers and ends.

3. Itemise fittings

Tension bars and tension bands for ends, corners and gates.
Brace bands, rail ends and rail couplers.
Line-post loop caps and terminal-post caps.
Tie wires or clips, with material, finish and spacing instruction.
Bolts, nuts, washers and buyer-approved spares.
Touch-up materials if field cutting or coating repair is expected.

4. Make each gate a mini-system

For pedestrian, double-swing or sliding gates, state clear opening, overall height, leaf arrangement, frame tube, mesh infill, hinges, latch/lock, drop rods, stops, wheel/track, automation interface and gate-post/foundation requirement. Gate hardware should not be hidden under the word 'accessories'.

5. Design export packing for receipt

Ask how rolls are wrapped, bundled or palletised; maximum package weight; post bundle protection; fitting carton labels; gate packing; gross/net weights and package dimensions. The container plan should make it possible to unload without damaging mesh edges, coatings or long posts. Packing-list part numbers should match the BOM.
