Meta title

Steel Picket Fence Panel Sizes and Components

Meta description

Primary keyword

steel picket fence panel sizes

Supporting keywords

steel fence panels wholesale; galvanized steel picket fence; metal fence panels supplier

Article copy

Steel picket fencing should be purchased as a coordinated system rather than as panels alone. Panel height and length affect picket count, rail layout, post spacing, gate interfaces and packing. A catalogue photograph does not reveal tube walls, tolerances, bracket geometry or the exact finish route.

One current MaiFa tubular fence page lists Q195 or Q235 galvanized steel, several panel heights and lengths, picket, rail and post sections, galvanized and powder-coated finish, and posts, brackets, bolts, nuts and anti-theft screws as accessories. These are selectable options; the purchase order should state one approved configuration.

System rule: write the panel, post, bracket, fastener and gate schedule together. A quotation for panels without posts, connections and corner/end conditions is not a complete installed-system comparison.

1. What MaiFa currently publishes

The published option matrix is useful for RFQ preparation but does not mean every height, length and tube size is combined as a standard product. Ask MaiFa to confirm the chosen combination and tolerances on a drawing.

RFQ action

Steel

Q195 or Q235 galvanized steel

Select grade and request order-specific evidence.

Panel height

900, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2000 and 2500 mm

Select finished height and tolerance.

Panel length

1200, 1500, 1800, 2100 and 2400 mm

Select finished length and post-centre basis.

Pickets

16 x 16, 19 x 19 and 25 x 25 mm

State section, wall, spacing and top profile.

Rails

30 x 30, 35 x 35, 40 x 40 and 50 x 50 mm

State section, wall, quantity and position.

Posts

50 x 50, 60 x 60 and 65 x 65 mm

State line/corner/end/gate post schedule and wall.

Finish/accessories

Galvanized and powder coated; posts, brackets and fasteners listed

Define coating and complete bill of materials.

2. Start with the project layout

Provide total run length, straight sections, corners, changes in grade, ends, openings and gate schedule. Identify whether panels will step, rack or be fabricated to follow a slope. The supplier can then prepare a post and panel count rather than quoting a generic linear-metre rate.

3. Fix panel geometry and spacing

State finished panel height and length, ground clearance, picket spacing, rail count and rail positions. Define how dimensions are measured and the acceptable tolerance. If safety or security rules limit openings or top profiles, include the actual jurisdictional requirement and do not assume a catalogue style complies.

4. Separate tube size from wall thickness

A 25 x 25 mm picket or 60 x 60 mm post description is incomplete without wall thickness and steel grade. Request section and wall for every picket, rail and post type. Gate posts should be scheduled separately because leaf size, hardware and wind area can change their loads.

5. Define connections and foundations

List bracket shape, material, coating, bolt grade/size, nuts, washers, anti-tamper requirements and cap types. Clarify whether posts are embedded, base-plated or attached to another structure. Foundation and anchor design must follow site conditions and the responsible engineer's requirements.

6. Control galvanizing and powder coating

State fabrication sequence, pretreatment, galvanizing route, powder type, colour and gloss, inspection scope and repair method. Ask how drainage and venting are handled in closed tubular sections. Do not turn a generic coating description into an unsupported service-life promise.

7. Build a repeat-order SKU

For distributors, freeze the approved panel drawing, post and bracket part numbers, colour reference, package quantity and label. Later orders should cite the revision. Any proposed substitute tube, coating, cap or fastener should require written approval.

Buyer control checklist

A useful procurement file separates the supplier's published range from the exact configuration being ordered. The following controls should be completed before price comparison or purchase-order release.

  • Issue a dimensioned layout and gate/opening schedule.
  • Select one panel height/length, picket, rail, post and wall configuration.
  • Define line, corner, end and gate posts separately.
  • List brackets, caps and all fasteners with installed and spare quantities.
  • State finish, colour, gloss, inspection and repair requirements.
  • Approve drawing, sample and package label before production.

Pre-shipment inspection points

Inspection should follow the approved drawing, purchase order and agreed sampling plan. A visual check alone cannot confirm every material or coating requirement, and product inspection does not replace project-specific engineering or local approval.

  • Measure panel height/length, picket spacing, rail positions and squareness.
  • Verify tube sections and walls for pickets, rails and each post type.
  • Inspect welds, drainage/vent details, coating coverage and handling damage.
  • Trial-fit panel, bracket, post, cap and fasteners.
  • Count panels, posts and hardware cartons against the bill of materials.

How to compare supplier offers on one basis

Build a bid-comparison sheet before reviewing price. Give every offer the same rows for product geometry, materials, coating or finish, posts and connections, gates or accessories, drawings, samples, inspection, packing, quantity per commercial unit, package weights and delivery terms. Mark each response as included, excluded, optional or not stated. Where a supplier proposes an alternative, record the changed value and its effect on interfaces instead of treating it as equivalent automatically.

Commercial comparison should use the same Incoterm and named place, currency, quantity, package scope and document requirement. Separate factory price from freight, local tax, installation and project engineering. This method does not select the lowest quotation by default; it exposes omissions and gives the buyer a clear list of technical questions before sample approval or purchase-order release.

Copy-ready inquiry template

Please quote [quantity/linear metres] of steel picket fencing to attached layout. Panel: [H x L] mm; steel [Q195/Q235 or required grade]; picket [section x wall, spacing, top]; rails [section x wall, count/position]; posts [line/corner/end/gate schedule]; brackets/fasteners [ ]. Finish [galvanizing + powder colour/gloss]. Include gates, drawings, tolerances, material/coating evidence requested, inspection plan, package counts/weights and [Incoterm] delivery to [named place].

Frequently asked questions

What steel panel sizes does MaiFa publish?

The cited page lists heights from 900 to 2500 mm and lengths from 1200 to 2400 mm in several steps. Select one combination in the RFQ.

Are posts included with every panel?

The page lists posts and accessories, but the quotation must state exact quantities and the commercial price unit.

Can wall thickness be inferred from tube size?

No. Section and wall thickness are separate requirements.

Does a powder-coated fence automatically meet local pool rules?

No. Height, openings, climbability, gates, latches and local approval must be checked for the project.

What should a repeat-order SKU include?

Drawing revision, material, all tube sections/walls, finish, hardware part numbers, package quantity and label.

Request a configuration-specific MaiFa quotation

Send MaiFa the application, dimensions, material and finish requirements, quantities, destination and document scope. Ask the quotation to repeat every selected value and identify any exception. This creates a traceable basis for samples, production, inspection, packing and later repeat orders.
